Product details
Western thinking and Western media: Have they covered the world with their uniform grids? What universalisms do they convey? This volume demonstrates that even peculiarities and particulars articulate themselves in globalized formats, whose assumptions are now up for debate. European colonialism did not only play out in an alleged periphery but was conceived and framed in scientific and cultural debates in Europe: The Enlightenment did not consider all people equal - it is a legacy that decentralizes in the postcolonial age, even for media studies. The contributions examine thought patterns of universalism and particularity in global images and sounds.
