Resilience in the event of a disaster

In social crisis situations, such as a prolonged power outage, people who require special forms of assistance are rarely considered. This applies, for example, to those who are cared for at home by their families or by caregiving services. Using this issue as an example, the contributions in this volume illustrate what types of support are needed by individuals in need of care and their relatives, and how this can be taken into account by disaster management. A theoretical discussion of the resilience concept, as well as an exploration of contextual knowledge generation within the framework of a model region, form the basis for the transdisciplinary research.
