Feminism in historical perspective

The classical feminist historiography has lost sight of the diversity of female actors in favor of well-known groups, individuals, texts, and events. However, there has never been a single feminism; rather, feminist movements and debates have been able to articulate themselves anew through their inherent conflicts, thereby gaining influence. Despite the multitude of publications, only a few overview works manage to break free from a traditional mainstream narrative. This volume thus revitalizes the debates surrounding the history and significance of feminism beyond clichés, historical reductionisms, or uncritical affirmation.
