Avant-garde and terrorism

There are already many indications of a connection between avant-garde and terrorism, but there have not yet been any substantial analyses on the subject. This study examines, using rich material, the possible proximity between historical avant-garde movements (Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism) and terrorist groups (RAF, Weatherman, Tupamaros). Groups such as Subversive Action, Kommune I, and the leftist activists around 1968 (Rudi Dutschke, Provos, Che Guevara supporters) serve as links. This results in a nuanced picture of "specialists of revolt," whose desire to dissolve the boundaries between art and life gives rise to the rhetoric of violent rupture with everything existing.
