Transcranial Brain Stimulation
EnglishProduct details
In recent years, exciting new techniques for exploring the human brain have emerged. A significant contribution has come from the introduction of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS). NIBS techniques include transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electrical stimulation (tES). Since the discovery of TMS and tES, these techniques have been used to investigate the state of cortical excitability, the excitability of cortico-cortical and corticospinal pathways, the role of a specific brain region in a particular cognitive function, as well as the timing of their activity and the pathophysiology of various disorders. TMS and tES are also important for clinical neuroscience to enhance plasticity and thus address deficits in various functions in individuals with neurological or psychiatric conditions. This book provides an overview of recent advances in this field.
