Product details

Prominent authors, including former Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and Saxony's Minister-President Kurt Biedenkopf, discuss the future of transatlantic relations. Scholars from both countries provide a historical analysis of German-American relations since 1945 and the role of John J. McCloy, High Commissioner for Germany. They identify themes for political, economic, and cultural exchange. A prerequisite for this exchange is the training of the next generation of German leaders in the USA. Based on the multilayered interdependence structures of the two Western industrial nations, there is a growing need for transatlantic global actors. Specifically, the institutional framework is analyzed using the example of the German-American McCloy Scholarship Program at Harvard University.
