Tiny House Movement

Living in just a few square meters? For most people, this is unimaginable. However, the participants of the Tiny House Movement consciously commit to this alternative form of living. Life in a micro-house not only refers to a place of residence but also reveals a new cultural habitus that focuses on sustainability and simplicity, intertwined with political demands. The movement is associated with the presumed goal of an alternative lifestyle and is increasingly interpreted as an attempt to distance itself from a postmodern consumer culture in the sense of a post-growth strategy. The aim of the ethnographic research was to make the contemporary and widely discussed phenomenon of the Tiny House Movement tangible and experiential in its fundamental aspects. The research primarily focused on the participants and their intrinsic motivations to uncover the social character of the movement.
