For the first time, Thomas J Price, one of the most important British artists of his generation, is exhibiting outside his home country in Europe. This catalog reflects two decades of his work. Thomas J Price is celebrated for his large-scale figurative sculptures, but he also works with performance, photography, and animation. His sculptures are not representations of real people, but rather fictional "everyday heroes," as he calls them. In doing so, he consistently questions preconceived notions of representation and identity. Price places the intrinsic value of the individual and the subversion of hierarchical structures at the center of his work to pose key questions: Who is seen in a society? Who is represented? What characteristics and signs shape our perception?.
