This Is Service Design Thinking

This book, "This is Service Design Thinking," introduces an interdisciplinary approach to service design. Service design is a buzzword today and has generated significant interest across various fields. This book, compiled to describe and illustrate the emerging field of service design, was created using the same co-creative and user-centered approaches that you can read about and learn from inside. The boundaries between products and services are blurring, and it is time to think differently: this is Service Design Thinking.

A group of 23 international authors and even more online contributors from the global service design community have invested their knowledge, experience, and passion to create this book. It introduces service design thinking in an accessible way for beginners and students, expands knowledge, and can serve as a resource for experienced design professionals. In addition to an introduction to service design thinking through five fundamental principles, a selection of individual perspectives highlights the similarities and differences among the various disciplines involved in service design. Furthermore, the book outlines an iterative design process and presents 25 customizable tools for service design, illustrating the practice of service design through five international case studies. The book concludes with an insight into the current state of service design research and places service design thinking in a philosophical context.
