Thermoplastische, rollgeformte Profile in Hybridbauweise 2 - TroPHy2

The book presents the final report of the collaborative project 'TroPHy2'. In this project, a hybrid roll forming system was developed that allows for the production of hybrid components made from metal profiles and carbon fibers with a thermoplastic matrix. This system was set up at the Open Hybrid LabFactory in Wolfsburg. The partners investigated and validated the necessary manufacturing processes. The goal was to develop a structurally optimized hybrid automotive component that demonstrates the weight-saving potential of hybrid materials. A weight reduction of up to 44.9% was calculated, significantly exceeding the initial project goal of 25% weight savings. This clearly highlighted the lightweight potential of the hybrid material.
