Organizational skills, concentration, and impulse control are essential prerequisites for the development of children and adolescents. Difficulties in these areas are often observed in children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). THOKI-ADHS is the first German-language therapy program specifically designed to address deficits in organizational skills.

The therapy manual first provides an overview of the symptoms, pathogenesis, and progression of ADHD, and discusses the current state of effective treatment approaches. The therapeutic procedure is then described in detail across 13 modules. THOKI-ADHS is designed for children aged six to twelve years and is primarily intended for use in individual settings. The goal of THOKI-ADHS is to identify the specific challenges children face regarding organizational skills, concentration, and impulse control in family life, at school, and in leisure activities, to modify these challenges through simulated situations during therapy sessions, and to support the transfer of these skills into everyday life.

In addition to child-centered interventions, the integration of parents and other caregivers into the treatment plays an important role. The manual also explains how a possible implementation in a group setting can be structured and how digital technologies can be used as a supplement. Numerous working materials for working with the children, as well as two questionnaires for assessing functional limitations in relevant everyday situations, can be downloaded after registration.
