At the beginning of the book, the general Maxwell theory of electromagnetic fields and its subdivision for different problem areas are presented in detail. The connection between field theory and electrical networks is discussed extensively. The methodological focus is on the formulation and solution of fundamental boundary value problems in electrostatics and magnetostatics, time-dependent diffusion fields in electrical conductors, as well as wave fields in free space, along conductors, and in cavities. Special emphasis is placed on the consistency of the overarching solution methodology, allowing what has been learned to be applied to other problem areas. Detailed calculation examples and additional exercises with solutions are provided for deepening understanding and exam preparation. The necessary mathematical formulas of vector algebra, coordinate systems, and vector analysis are compiled in an appendix for reference.
