Theodor Storms Weihnachten

Christmas occupies a significant place in Theodor Storm's life. It is the most important of the annual festivals, as evidenced by many of the poet's statements in letters to family and friends. Christmas has also left its mark on Storm's poetry in many ways: The most famous Christmas poem of all is probably "Knecht Ruprecht". Theodor Storm's complete Christmas stories and poems are included in this volume, as well as many letters in which he gives today's readers an almost intimate insight into his Christmas, the preparations, the tree decorations and the celebration itself. Numerous illustrations, mostly in colour, show the Christmas tree decorations of Storm's time and thus convey a vivid picture of the Christmas celebrations of the bourgeois family of the 19th century.
