For thirteen-year-old Theodore Boone, there is nothing more exciting than the world of justice. Whenever he can, he attends court hearings and acquires an astonishing knowledge of the law. His parents, both lawyers, constantly have to remind him that he still needs to go to school. However, Theo dreams of the day when he can serve justice himself as a lawyer or judge. Until then, he diligently practices by helping his classmates out of trouble as a resourceful legal advisor. Unfortunately, there are only a few major cases in the small town of Strattenburg. But then Pete Duffy is charged with the murder of his wife – the most thrilling case Theo has ever experienced. He follows the trial with fascination. However, the prosecution can only present circumstantial evidence, which Duffy's defense quickly undermines. And then the unimaginable happens: Theo learns of a witness who can confirm that Duffy is guilty. But the witness is terrified of the authorities and insists that Theo remain silent. That's when Theo comes up with a brilliant yet dangerous idea...
