Value orientation through esteem, respect and tolerance. This practical teaching material encourages young people to look at themselves and others and to think about values and norms in communities. They should become more aware of themselves, other people, other cultures and nature and gain ideas for reflection and judgement. Mindfulness in the sense of a conscious perception of people, nature and society is anchored as a cross-curricular topic in various curricula (ethics, religion, Wipo). The theoretical basis of the theme booklet is Caring Thinking. This approach gives democracy education a sensory basis in combination with mindfulness: the world is first consciously perceived with all the senses, i.e. not just "conceptualised". This creates the foundation for the appreciation of other people, communities and cultures. The tasks and methods in the Mindfulness and Democracy Education booklet build on this. They encourage pupils to put themselves in other people's shoes and see the world from their perspective. This change of perspective enables them to develop a better understanding of unfamiliar thoughts and feelings.
