Thelem Emily Dickinson

Most of Emily Dickinson's works were written during the years of the American Civil War. Her intellectual agility and broad perspective are paired with an overly sensitive psyche, leading her as a young woman to decide not to leave her father's estate and to avoid society. She embarks on an inward journey, sitting in the light of her own fire and quietly composing her outstanding work, which is presented here in a selection and newly translated, organized by themes. Time seems to have no effect on Dickinson's work: it does not transport us like a ship to distant continents; it can be read here. The poetry, into which Magda Kirndörfer guides us with its speaking and silence, and whose revealing gestures she follows, is a vast land that can be discovered anew time and again. And it is the difficult that becomes quite simple when we patiently follow it, attentively and without interpretation.
