Product details

Quiet, subtle, occasionally obvious humour pervades almost all of the texts presented here from the dramatic genre of the author Joanna Lisiak: plays, dramolettes, scenes, sketches as well as radio plays. Often revealing in character, the texts range from amusing parodies to plays taken to the absurd. Joanna Lisiak breaks with clichés by virtually demonstrating them or, on occasion, anticipating the audience's reaction, for example, when she subtly incorporates them into the levels of conversation or lets the audience watch a play themselves, where they become audience observers of audience members who, in turn, watch a play. As entertaining as some of the texts are, they can also be thought-provoking in places. Especially when the comedy gets stuck in your throat because you find yourself laughing at something that could have been meant just as seriously. In other words, when tragedy gently lends a hand to comedy. Topics such as communication, human misunderstandings or the imperfection of the individual are recurring and unifying motifs in the plays. These texts were written between 2003 and 2016.
