Product details
Ursula Schulze is a professor of German literature at the Free University of Berlin. In addition to books on the Nibelungenlied and other works of medieval literature, she has published a number of successful anthologies.
This new edition of the Nibelungenlied is no longer based on the traditional text edition by Karl Bartsch, which has long been considered problematic, but offers a text newly created by Ursula Schulze that consistently follows the St. Gallen manuscript B, thus no longer mixing the various text versions. This text is accompanied by an accurate, revised prose translation and a concise, yet not overly brief commentary by Siegfried Grosse.
