Product details

Honoré de Balzac: The Skin of Sorrow La Peau de Chagrin. After multiple publications of fragments of the work in various magazines (December 1830 in "La Caricature" under the title "Le Dernier Napoléon," May 1831 in "Revue des Deux Mondes" under the title "Une Débauche," and under the title "Le Suicide d'un poëte" in "Revue de Paris" in May 1831), the first complete edition was published under the title "La Peau de chagrin" in August 1831. In the same year, the novel was released along with twelve other stories in an edition titled "Romans et Contes philosophiques"; a third edition in the same format followed in 1833. In 1835, "La Peau de chagrin" was published by Werdet in volumes I to IV of the "Études philosophiques.".
