The OléOlé Bar is a Zurich institution. Located in the "Chreis Cheib" on Langstrasse, it has been a refuge for the thirsty, lonely, and party-goers since its founding in 1966. Regulars like Lara Stoll and Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre, Yvonne Eisenring, and Dominique Feusi share anecdotes. Friends such as Dieter Meier and Thomas Haemmerli provide sketches of their inner lives. At its heart, the book offers a facsimile insight into the diaries referred to as the "Barbie book." In these, the all-female crew that has been running the OléOlé Bar for ten years records every evening who was there, what was left behind, stolen, or damaged, whether there was dancing, flirting, or even mating. It captures the atmosphere at a focal point where society succumbs to intoxication night after night. Designed by Jonas Voegeli and Kerstin Landis and richly illustrated with photos and testimonies from the bar's inner workings, "Die OléOlé-Bar. Stories from the Barbie Book" is an entertaining piece of Zurich's social and cultural history.
