The neurological examination

The book presents a problem-oriented and pragmatic approach to the clinical neurological examination for common symptoms. This allows physicians to avoid vague findings such as "grossly neurologically unremarkable" or "pDMS intact" and to efficiently examine patients neurologically. Neurological short reports with documentation and guidance on necessary subsequent diagnostics ensure that the book can be used as a readily accessible reference work. It is aimed at specialists and physicians in training who are confronted with neurological issues in everyday practice or in a clinical context, particularly in general medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, trauma and general surgery, as well as in interdisciplinary emergency departments.

The content includes: orienting neurological examination, occasion-based neurological examination with video material for correct execution, digital neurological examination techniques, neurogeriatric examination, clinical neurological methods, evidence of neurological methods, and pitfalls.

The editors: Prof. Dr. med. Pawel Kermer is the director of the Neurological Clinic at the Nordwestkrankenhaus Sanderbusch and previously worked at the University Hospital Tübingen, in La Jolla, USA, and at the University Medicine Göttingen. Prof. Dr. med. Reinhard Rohkamm served as the chief physician of the Neurological Clinic at the Nordwestkrankenhaus Sanderbusch until the end of 2011, after positions including in the USA, at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, and at the University of Würzburg.
