The Librarian of Auschwitz

The Librarian of Auschwitz tells the life story of Dita Kraus, a young girl from Prague who was deported to Auschwitz with her family during the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. There, at the age of fourteen, she agrees to manage eight special books that prisoners had smuggled past the guards. By lending these books to other inmates, she helped preserve imagination, humanity, and education in the face of the worst horrors. This is a comic adaptation of the book of the same name by Spanish journalist Antonio Iturbe, who published Dita Kraus's memories as a novel in 2012 based on a series of interviews. It has been translated into more than 30 languages, reached millions, and is now being released as a masterful graphic novel simultaneously in French, Spanish, English, and German. Dita Kraus, born in 1929, currently lives in Israel.
