The joy

In the summer of 1927, the poet wrote to a friend: "I have happily returned to work. I live with two wonderful saints, two real saints that I invent in advance. Everything is so bathed in light that I can think of nothing else, and my heart sings in enchantment." The two saints are Abbé Chevance and the girl Chantal. And the book that delighted the poet like no other was named: "Joy." It is the second part of the novel diptych, the first wing of which was "The Deception," to which it responds with light from above, without which it remains comprehensible only as an external narrative, but not in its inner spiritual balance, in its character as a Christian mystery.
