June 1914: Two shots are fired in Sarajevo and the world moves to the abyss. Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is dead. At the same time, Commissioner Reitmeyer is faced with a difficult decision in Munich. He's tired of being the police commissioner's puppet. The corpse of a young man leads him from the working-class districts to the villas of the upper classes. and to the notorious Café Neptun, the officers' amusement park. The police commissioner urges him not to dig any deeper, and by law he is not allowed to investigate against the military. Reitmeyer makes a monstrous discovery that not only leaves him free to shoot himself, but could plunge the entire country into ruin.
