Study paper from 2022 in the field of Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 1.3, language: German. Abstract: This paper deals with the Harvard negotiation concept and demonstrates its application. The resolution of conflicts is a significant topic in daily life. Through constructive, thoughtful, and positively framed negotiations, conflicts can be resolved purposefully. But how can negotiations be conducted in the best possible way? Is there a right way to resolve conflicts through negotiations, and if so, what does it look like? What significance does this path hold for the future? All these questions are analyzed and answered in this paper. The daily life of every person is shaped by negotiation situations, whether consciously or unconsciously. Daily, situations arise where negotiations can take place, must take place, or are taking place. Particularly in a professional context, there is often potential for conflict. Here, people with divergent backgrounds, training, and (professional) expectations encounter specific working conditions, colleagues, supervisors, teams, and clients. However, there are also numerous examples of (possible) negotiation situations in private life. For instance, children often negotiate with their parents about pocket money, private buyers negotiate with sellers about product or service prices, and family members negotiate with each other about household chores, etc. Negotiation situations fundamentally arise from conflict situations. Conflicts occur whenever people meet. These conflicts need to be resolved in the best possible way. Often, such negotiations fail or yield poor results because they are negotiated on a relational level rather than on a substantive level. This particularly leads to negative feelings, hardening of positions, and false compromises.
