The great philosophers

This major work by Karl Jaspers traces the beginnings of philosophical thought from the Middle Ages into modern times and provides a comprehensive history of philosophy shaped by the personality of the author, starting from the form and work of individual thinkers. It lays the groundwork for historical-philosophical development and serves both as an introductory textbook and a philosophical reader. Shortly after the end of World War II, Karl Jaspers, for whom the history of philosophy has always been inseparably linked to the figures of great philosophers, began working on this project. His aim is to reinterpret the worldviews of the great thinkers from the perspective of our time, which has become so questionable, and to make them fruitful for addressing the challenges we face.
