The Gospel of Thomas

The four gospels of the New Testament by no means contain all the words of Christ. The first Christians were also aware of other sources, including the Gospel of Thomas, which had previously only been known by name, and the rediscovery of this gospel and other manuscripts on the upper Nile was one of the most important events in the history of Christianity. While the Sermon on the Mount shows generally valid guidelines for the guidance of our life in the sense of deeds, the Gospel of Thomas provides instructions for the inner guidance of life. The purpose of his explanations is to help the reader take the first steps into his "inner life". He will soon notice what a wealth of thoughts these secret words of the Lord radiate.
