The Global Leadership Development Level (GLDL)

The book "The Global Leadership Development Level (GLDL)" by Johannes van Baardewijk offers a comprehensive examination of the phenomenon of contemporary integrative Western-Chinese organizational leadership. It is based on Kegan's constructive development theory and its application to the development of leadership skills. The author proposes to expand this theory to include a qualitatively new level of leadership competence, referred to as the Global Leadership Development Level (GLDL). By introducing the GLDL construct, a framework is established to understand and explain Western-Chinese integrative leadership as well as transcultural integrative leadership. Given the increasing importance of global leadership in the literature, this study makes a significant contribution by establishing a connection between global leadership and constructive development theory, which has not been adequately addressed in existing leadership literature.
