Product details

The 13-year-old William Kamkwamba grows up on a small farm in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world. In 2002, after severe flooding followed by a drought, the worst famine in 50 years strikes. William's father can no longer afford the school fees for his son. However, William does not give up. He borrows books from the school library and teaches himself. In a physics book, he finds the blueprint for a windmill. At the age of 14, he builds a wind turbine that allows him to generate electricity and pump water for irrigating his family's fields.

This is the compelling true story of a boy who never gave up and changed the fate of an entire village.
