The bathroom is perhaps the last private place we can retreat to. It is the space for peace and intimacy - and especially for a woman, the place where she hides her beauty secrets and can transform herself every day. Now a hundred women grant an insight into their mysterious chambers. The idea for this book came to the editor Friederike Schilbach on a holiday trip: "I visited a friend in Puglia and noticed that her bathroom resembles her character: airy, minimalist, beautiful. Before I left, I asked her for a photo of it and a few sentences about it." It became a whole project.
