The Aschauer

"The Aschauer" by Carl Oskar Renner takes readers to Aschau in the late 18th century, where sisters Marei and Resei work in their father's forge. Their deepest desire is to obtain their journeyman's certificate and pursue a profession traditionally reserved for men. However, the resistance from some citizens calls their ambitions into question.
