Robert Henri (1865-1929) is the first significant art educator in the USA. From his classes at the New York School of Art emerged artists such as Edward Hopper, Stuart Davis, Man Ray, Adolph Gottlieb, Rockwell Kent, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi. His lectures were transcribed by a student and published in book form in 1923. Here we present the first German edition, richly illustrated and accompanied by an informative afterword. What is interesting about these lectures for us today is the completely unironical, vital, and unwavering belief in the future that speaks from them, an optimism that confidently proclaims: You too can become an artist!
