Texts on the theory of the humanities

The purpose and usefulness of the humanities seem more contested today than ever before. The term itself is sometimes avoided in contexts where the subject is nonetheless situated, namely at universities and in scientific institutions. The sciences concerning the moral-historical world and the individual facts within it have formulated relevant theses and views on these contentious issues since Aristotle and up to the present day. This volume gathers the most important positions.
