The treatment of urinary infections takes up the most space in daily practice, especially for urologists. Their importance in urological pathology is no less great. If we see a patient with infected urine, we know that this is a sign of a disease of one organ, the entire urogenital system or, in severe cases, the entire organism. In all cases, the treatment of urinary infection initially follows certain long-established guidelines, the logic of which may not always be clear to us and the application of which has become second nature to us: Increasing diuresis, reducing congestion through bed rest and dietary prescriptions and today, above all, chemotherapy. Chemotherapy occupies such a prominent place in the treatment of urinary infection that a separate chapter is devoted to it as an introduction.
