LuganoCentrale dock just before closing time: An employee discovers a life-sized figure dressed in a shirt and suit aboard the motorboat Italia. The puppet man is the first in a series of terrifying objects that an unknown person has installed around Lake Lugano. What the police initially dismiss as a bad joke turns out to be an announcement of a murder: Daniele Erhart, a lawyer from a prestigious firm in Lugano, is shot while jogging. Now, nothing can stop Emma Tschopp and Marco Bianchi from investigating. Their work in their newly founded detective agency and their Labrador Rubio must wait. The fact that all puppet men wear a patch on their collar drives the two investigators: it depicts a black cat with a long, blood-stained knife in its paw. Then, a female figure made of bread is found by the pool of the luxury resort Collina d'Oro. If Emma and Marco piece the clues together correctly, they will save a life. If not, the person who always seems to be one step ahead of them will win.
