Teryky

If a polar hunter drifts off on an ice floe, according to a Chukchi legend, he becomes a teryky, a fur-covered monster. If he returns, it is the duty of humans to kill him. Nobody really believes in this legend anymore. When the seal hunter Goigoi drifts out into the sea on an ice rink after a weather change, his only concern is to return to his beloved, his clan. After long weeks of desperation, hunger and cold, he sets foot ashore again - and sees his reflection in a puddle with horror. He has become a teryky.
