Product details

The play "Terror" by Ferdinand von Schirach addresses a pressing and current issue: the moral dilemmas that arise in extreme situations. In the story, a terrorist hijacks a plane and forces the pilots to head towards a fully packed football stadium. To save the lives of 70,000 people, a fighter pilot makes the consequential decision to shoot down the plane, resulting in the death of all passengers. The soldier is subsequently put on trial and must account for his decision. The play encourages reflection on the values of freedom and security and poses the question of how we want to live in a world shaped by terror. This school edition includes word explanations and an afterword to enhance understanding and support discussion on the complex themes.
