Product details

The historical novel "Tehran, Apocalypse" by Amir Hassan Cheheltan describes significant events and occurrences in Iranian contemporary history through six episodes. The novel begins with the murder of Robert Whitney Imbrie, the vice-consul of the American embassy and an agent of the Sinclair Oil Company, on a hot summer day in 1924. A group of ordinary people in the alleys and bazaars is suspected of being the instigators as Reza Shah, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty and father of the Shah of Iran, takes office. The story concludes in the hot summer of 1988 with the execution of one of the main characters in this massacre. However, "Tehran, Apocalypse" can be viewed not only as a historical novel but also as a socially critical one that depicts the history, traditional culture, and superstitions of the people, while involving the reader in the political movements of the last hundred years in Iran. The book "Tehran, Apocalypse" is the second volume of Amir Hassan Cheheltan's Tehran Trilogy, which has not been allowed to be published in Iran due to censorship. This work has been published for the first time in Persian by Sujet Verlag and Goethe & Hafis Verlag in Germany. The Tehran Trilogy has been published so far in German, English, Italian, Norwegian, and Hebrew. Additionally, his books have been recognized by the esteemed press as important novels of contemporary Iranian literature.
