Product details
Romantic little towns, castles and monasteries are strung like pearls along the River Tauber; sunny vineyards stretch along the red sandstone cliffs: the "lovely Tauber Valley", as the tourist region is officially known, is a region for pleasure hikers. Hiking, wine and culture can be perfectly combined here. The Rother hiking guide "Tauber Valley" presents 50 hikes between Frankenhöhe, Hohenlohe, Odenwald and Spessart. As an encore, the multi-day Tauber Valley Panorama Trail, a Wanderbares Deutschland quality trail, is presented.
The Tauber Valley offers an incredible variety of adventurous hikes and there is always something to visit - especially the towns of Rothenburg, Bad Mergentheim, Lauda-Königshofen, Tauberbischofsheim and Wertheim, which are well worth seeing. Pleasure hikers will get their money's worth in wine villages such as Beckstein, Schäftersheim and Röttingen. An insider tip is the local red wine Tauberschwarz, which only a few wineries offer. Hiking in the Tauber Valley also has a sporting appeal, as there are always steeper ascents and descents to conquer.
The Rother hiking guide "Tauber Valley" covers the entire Tauber from its source near Weikersholz to where it flows into the River Main near Wertheim. It also includes the western Franconian Heights and the border areas of Hohenlohe, Odenwald and Spessart.
Each hike has detailed directions, an informative map section and an altitude profile. GPS tracks are available for download. There are also many recommendations for refreshment stops, places of interest and regional specialities. All tours in the book can be reached by public transport.
