The salvation concepts of religious Taoism focus on longevity and immortality. The proponents of these ideas were experts in techniques for nurturing human life, such as breathing techniques, gymnastics, dietetics, and sexual practices. Florian C. Reiter, who has translated sacred texts from the Taoist canon, provides a clear picture of religious Taoism, which has often been misunderstood in Europe due to selective cultural imports.
