Talitha has a family. Her father is a doctor, and her mother takes care of her and her two brothers in a village 30 km north of Damascus. Until Muslim rebels capture the village, destroy the monasteries and churches, and create a bloodbath. During the attack, Talitha's brother Noah loses his life. The family flees, first to Syria, then to Europe, ending up in Vienna. From there, they want to go to relatives in Germany, but they get separated. By the time they are back in contact, Talitha and her surviving brother are on the German side of the borders, while their parents are on the Austrian side. The borders are closed.
