To learn to play the piano, the pianist does not run around the piano; he plays the piano. In football, outdated models are still being used, based on incorrect references and periodization concepts that are not specific to football, originating from unrelated sports disciplines. According to the most important law of training theory – the law of specificity – football training is about developing football and structuring the training according to a game concept, and nothing is more specific than the game of football itself. The aim of this book is for every coach and every club, based on the principles of tactical periodization, scientific backgrounds, and objective references, to be able to develop their own game model and training concept, adapted to external factors such as age group or league level. This book provides detailed insights into practical implementation by demonstrating how a game model and a corresponding training concept were successfully integrated into the youth department of a professional club with a variety of exercises.
