Tacitus:Über die Germanen

Bleak, eerie, dreadful, and furthermore quite windy: This is how the Roman Tacitus described Germania nearly 2000 years ago. Its inhabitants were accustomed to cold and hunger, had blue eyes, were tall, and their hair shimmered reddish. In his work Germania, the historian also describes the culture and religion of the northern people, how they live and feed themselves, how they raise their children, and what natural resources they possess.
