Product details
Tacitus is the most significant Roman historian of the imperial period, from the 1st to the 3rd century AD. Alongside the Annals and the Histories, Germania, published in 98 AD, is considered one of his most interesting works. Divided into 46 short sections, the first part deals with the origins, land, and ways of life of the Germans, while the second part characterizes the various tribes. The text was long thought to be lost. The work was rediscovered only during the Renaissance and has since been the subject of intense debates. Bilingual edition in Latin and German, translated by Arno Mauersberger, with introduction and commentary.
