Product details
The book highlights the methods by which chemists conduct their research and the new series of 3,3-diphenylpropionic acid derivatives that were synthesized. The key intermediate 3,3-diphenylpropionyl chloride was synthesized through the reaction of 3,3-diphenylpropionic acid and thionyl chloride. The intermediate was further subjected to a reaction with various aromatic secondary amines in the presence of NaOH in acetone. After the synthesis of the compounds, the synthesized compounds were characterized by their IR, 1H-NMR, mass spectrometry data, and elemental analysis. These derivatives were investigated for their analgesic effect (Hot-Plate and Tail Flick methods) and anti-inflammatory effect (carrageenan-induced rat paw edema) using diclofenac sodium and indomethacin as standard medications. The compounds AK-5 and AK-3 exhibited a significantly strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect (two to three times) when compared to the control group.
