Swayambhu: A World Heritage Destination

This book is significant for three main reasons. First, the analysis of the current system, the responsibilities and roles of various stakeholders, as well as the problematic elements in practice, has not yet been applied in Nepal. This research approach opens up a new perspective in the field of conservation and management systems of World Heritage Sites. Second, the research contributes to expanding our knowledge about the actual issues for the management and conservation system of the entire site and the coordination with all stakeholders for the implementation of the management plan. This also aids the local residents of the site, government planners, and heritage managers. Many aspects of the problem and the solution for coordination between stakeholders, local residents, and related matters have been observed and studied, allowing for the avoidance of further issues and lack of coordination in the conservation and management system. Third, the investigation has opened up many opportunities to initiate a program for the conservation and management of heritage that takes into account the coordination between the parties involved, including communities and local residents.
