Wittlich

The population of the city of Wittlich has significantly contributed to the vibrancy and diversity of the content in this picture book. A large portion of the photos comes from private albums and collections that were entrusted to the author. The selection particularly focused on everyday life, as what is often taken for granted rarely became the subject of a camera, alongside streets and squares. Wittlich was only able to shed its old, predominantly agricultural image since the 1970s, when the highway connection brought industry and, consequently, money. The result was architectural transformations and new concepts in the city that drastically modified the appearance of entire street sections. The old images, which show the former state of the city and working life, are thus valuable testimonies from a time that has not yet passed.
