Miltenberg

Black eels swim in the river, the valley and the slopes shine with grain and wine, peaches thrive, and pears peek through the leaves in the blessed mainland. This is how the German writer Georg Britting viewed Miltenberg. That the pearl of the Main has more to offer than the idyllic Main, Mildenburg, and Schnatterloch is demonstrated by Hermann Neubert, the director of the municipal museum, in this lovingly compiled picture book. More than 160 mostly unpublished photos reflect 70 years of Lower Franconian city history and impressively tell the story of the Miltenberg residents, known for their open and sociable nature. The author reports on the turbulent everyday life in a region that has lived off viticulture for centuries and is repeatedly affected by floods from the Main. Locals and visitors will rediscover familiar sights and find new ones on this stroll through old Miltenberg.
