Meuselwitz

Images often say more about a city and its people than many words. This impressive volume showcases the small town of Meuselwitz in the Schnaudertal, which was once the starting point for the search for lignite in Central Germany. Archivist Steffi Müller paints a vivid picture of everyday life, community life, and the working world from 1900 to 1970 with more than 200 mostly unpublished photos. There are images of streets that no longer exist, as well as striking pictures from the challenging reconstruction period after World War II. The photos, which mostly come from the private collections of Meuselwitz residents, invite the viewer to embark on a journey into the past. And perhaps some will even discover themselves in a youth photograph.
