No other industrial company has been as significant for Wetzlar and its surroundings as the Optical Works Ernst Leitz. Thanks to the expertise of its employees and the outstanding quality of its products, Leitz evolved from humble beginnings into a global company. Their products hardly needed the label "Made in Germany." The names Ernst Leitz and Wetzlar have always stood for top quality and held the same significance worldwide as the German origin label.
